Organized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – SPUP Student Chapter, SPUP’s Civil Engineering students attended the annual National Civil Engineering Summit 2023. The event was held at University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman in Quezon City on September 28 to 30, 2023. Hosted by the Association of Civil Engineering Students, the summit served as an educational convergence aimed to broaden the horizons and inspire future civil engineers as nation-builders. It provided students with invaluable opportunities for learning and networking by engaging them in activities that would shape their prospective careers.
The summit commenced with a Laboratory Tour, allowing students to witness firsthand the advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment used in the field of civil engineering. The experience provided a glimpse into the real-world applications of civil engineering principles. The summit ensued with the National Civil Engineering Symposium through the keynote address of former Senator Francis Pangilinan. He highlighted the role of youth in shaping the nation’s future. The summit concluded with the active participation of the CE Quiz team on the National Civil Engineering Quiz Show, where their knowledge and problem-solving skills were tested against teams from other universities. Despite fierce competition, the SPUP team demonstrated their academic prowess and collaborative spirit.
The participation of SPUP Civil Engineering students was made possible through the leadership of Mr. Airon Caliva (President, PICE – SPUP Student Chapter), the guidance of Engr. Cirilo Gazzingan, (Adviser) and the assistance of Engr. Valen Golino and Engr. Ariel Turaray (Faculty Members).
