Christian Formation Outreach Service

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me. I was ill and you comforted me, in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

Catholic Faith as taught and learned in the classroom Religious Education instruction does not remain abstract. An effective moral education should provide a distinctive Christian meaning to life and a true motivation to one’s choices, decisions and actions. “We should not only believe, but act accordingly” (NCDP 267,269). What is understood by reason and intellect can dynamically influence one’s behavior, attitudes and values, and is translated into concrete “actions.”

Through the Community Extension Services (CES) programs, the Paulinians are provided the opportunities to render services to the poor in the partner barangays, parishes/diocese, public schools and availed charitable institutions, to deeply integrate and make alive the truths of the Catholic Faith. It is loving service and compassionate during that would gauge an authentic understanding and mature response to the demands of Faith. By their active participation in the outreach programs, the students develop the value of volunteerism and are led to become true servant-leaders following the footsteps of Jesus Christ, the Master who came not to be served but to serve. Strengthened by interactive Christian moral formation, the Paulinians will hopefully commit for legislations and programs that will benefit the poor and the less privileged. Hence neither are the Sacraments nor liturgy reduced to empty lip service, or the Creed to dry statements of facts, when they are both concretized in our daily moral living.

In an experiential way, Faith is learned in the classroom (RE), celebrated in the personal and communal prayer and worship (CM) and lived in one’s daily life through good works and promotion of justice and peace (CES).
