SPUP’s School of Medicine (SOM) initiated a Medical Mission in Minanga, Peñablanca, Cagayan on March 17, 2024. Dubbed as Proyekto MAlasakit at KAlinga ng mga Paulino (MAKAPaulino), the endeavor aimed to provide health and literacy services to the people of the said community. Teacher Education and Nursing students also supported the realization of the said undertaking.

Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals on Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3) and Quality Education (SDG 4), Proyekto MAKAPaulino highlighted the importance of health and education in the life of the members of the community. Under the supervision of Dr. Ma. Goldamier Cannu and Dr. Leon Caculitan, SPUP’s medical students conducted health check-up/consultation, medication dispensing, and minor surgery. The Nursing students demonstrated basic life support techniques to the barangay officials, health workers, and parents, while the Teacher Education students provided tutorial services and group dynamic activities for the children.

The endeavor served as a kick-off activity of the series of community development services of SOM and collaborating partners through the conduct of Medical Mission.
