September 03, 2021 – In celebration of the 54th Foundation Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) organized a webinar on “ASEAN Internationalization Circa 2021: The Philippine Experience – Internationalization at Home: A Starter Kit for HEIs.” The virtual conference was designed to emerge key strategies and challenges, elicit insights, and foster recommendations on establishing internationalization in Philippine Higher Education.

The first part of the event featured the discussion on “Contextualizing Internationalization at Home” by the speakers from York University, Canada, namely: Prof. Dominique Schefell-Dunand, Ms. Vinitha Gengatharan and Ms. Helen Balderama.

The webinar proceeded with the presentations of Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, International Relations) of St. Paul University Philippines and Mr. Frederick Reyes (Head, Partnerships, Linkages, Academic Cooperation and Engagement) of De La Salle Araneta University. They discussed the development of the internationalization program of their respective institutions. They also facilitated the workshop in the conference.

The online event also featured the sharing of Dr. Laurene Chua-Garcia of De La Salle University, Dr. Christine Nabor Ferrer of Tarlac Agricultural University and Dr. Mabeth Gualberto Buenviaje of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas on internationalizing higher education in the Philippines. The program concluded with the closing remarks of Atty. Lily Freida C. Milla (Deputy Executive Director and Director of International Affairs) of the Commission on Higher Education.
