The IDDU Honor Roles Award for Women is a brainchild of PIA Region II. It emphasizes “Iddu,” the Ibanag term for “loved one or beloved,” and “Roles” for the relevant and valuable contributions of the honorees to the community. The program is endeavored to recognize selected women and women’s organization in the Cagayan Valley Region of their successes and challenges in their quests for countryside development. Now on its eleventh season, this year’s awarding ceremonies was spearheaded by Dir. Angely Mercado, MPA (Regional Director, PIA) and Dr. Oliver Baccay (Asst. PIA’s annual search for IDDU Honor Roles Award for Women is a paperless recognition wherein interviews are conducted to the identified nominees, along with the leaders and individuals who can attest to the nominees’ exemplary character and outstanding performances. The selection body is composed of PIA-Information Officers, Local Writers and the members of the Informers’ Club, a Cagayan-based media organization, who have worked and witnessed the transformational advocacies and developmental engagement of the nominees. Honorees must not have questionable background in any form and have contributed to effect change in the lives of the people, particularly women, in their respective communities.
