On July 02, 2025, St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) and the United Nations University (UNU) in Japan formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering collaborative engagement in academic and research initiatives. The agreement was signed by Sr. Merceditas Ang SPC, (President, SPUP), and Dr. Tshilidzi Marwala (Rector of UNU). The ceremony was coordinated by Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales, (Director, SPUP-Internationalization), and Mr. Nicolas Du Bois (Project Manager, UNU).
The MOU outlines a range of collaborative activities, including research projects, capacity-building initiatives, knowledge exchange programs, and academic cooperation. This partnership seeks to establish a framework for faculty, students, and stakeholders to work together on various issues and develop practical solutions. The attendance of SPUP administrators and Sisters of St Paul of Chartres at the signing underscores the importance of this agreement for both institutions.
As SPUP and UNU proceed with their collaboration, they are set to embark on initiatives focused on shared academic goals and practical research outcomes, aiming to enhance their educational programs and contribute to broader knowledge dissemination.
