SPUP-SBAHM HOLDS POST-PANDEMIC REGIONAL BUSINESS EXPO

SPUP’s School of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (SBAHM) conducted the 23rd Regional Business Expo with the theme: Business, Hospitality and Tourism: Forging Innovation Towards Sustainability and Remarkable Success on June 7-8, 2023. After having the event online for two years due to the pandemic, this year, the convention was held in face-to-face mode. The said academic convergence was participated in by faculty members and students of Accountancy, Business, Tourism and Hospitality Programs of the different Higher Education Institutions in Region 2. Also present were experts and practitioners as well as alumni who served as resource speakers.
The event commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration, held at the Our Lady of Chartres Chapel followed by the opening program at the Mere Madelaine Hall, Learning Resource Center. Dr. Charito M. Guillermo, CPA, (Dean, SBAHM) welcomed all the guests and participants, while Ms. Cristie Suyu, (Chairperson, 23rd Regional Business Expo) presented the Statement of Purpose of the business expo. Ms. Jenie Ann Canapi (Co-chair, 23rd Regional Business Expo) presented the participants. The occasion was graced by Sister Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), who gave an inspirational message. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jocelyn P. Carag (CHED RO2 Education Supervisor) where she presented the innovative practices and approaches in designing the curriculum of the different programs in order to meet the demands and requirements of the industries.
The first technical session was led by Mr. Zaldy Tesnado, (HR Manager, Cimpress/Vistaprint Philippines) where he talked about Relationship That Lasts: Innovative Customer Service. In his presentation, he emphasized the need to develop the skills and attitudes towards excellent customer service. The speaker for the second technical session was Mr. Florendo Palattao, (Senior HR Specialist, Auma Human Resources, Saudi Arabia). His topic included A New Look at Customer Service where he discussed the customer service channels, understanding customer service and the customer service zone. The first day of the business expo concluded with a research presentation of the SBAHM faculty and students.
On the second day of the Business Expo, various technical sessions were held simultaneously by experts in the field of Business Management and Hospitality. The speakers were Ms. Kristine Cadawan (Tourism Officer, Department of Tourism Region 02) with her topic: Status of Tourism in Region 02 After the Pandemic; Mr. Jaime DC. Pinto (Executive Housekeeper, Four Point by Sheraton), who presented the Current Trends in Hotel Operations; Ms Lachmi Adtani Raichandani (Entrepreneur/ Franchisee), who discussed the topic on How to Grow Your Money and Dr. Juvie Bacani (Faculty Member, SPUP-SBAHM), who presented the Business Practices in the New Normal.
In the afternoon, different contested events were held where students showcased their talents and skills. These included: Business Quiz Bee, Hospitality/Tourism Quiz Bee, Accounting Quiz Bee, Tour Guiding, Tour Package Proposal, and Product Presentation, flairtending and food carving skills competitions. The event ended with the awarding of certificates the all the winners and the participants.
