SPUP REPRESENTS PHILIPPINES IN GLOBAL CULTURAL SUMMER CAMP 2022

SPUP delegates Jun ll V. Guillermo, Krisha Lei M. Berbano, and Wilson Mathugh C. Arugay represented the Philippines at the annual CJCU Global Cultural Exchange Summer Camp organized by the Office of Global Engagement in Chang Jung Christian University last August 1-4, 2022. The event was participated in by 25 Universities from 12 different nations, namely Taiwan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, China, South Korea, and Cambodia. Ninety-four (94) virtual participants were given an opportunity to foster cross-cultural dialogue and celebrate diversity among nations.
The annual activity was instituted to showcase Taiwan’s diverse and fascinating cultures. This year’s summer camp was expanded with brimming with enjoyable activities for campers to appreciate cultures, accept diversity, and embrace individual uniqueness. It also aimed to promote relations between nations and bridge the gap so that everyone could engage and affect change on a global scale. Mr. John Hsieh elaborated on cultural tourism while describing Taiwan’s rich history, religious activity and beliefs, variety of cuisines, festivals, ceremonies, and lifestyle. Subsequently, a virtual tour of the Chimei Museum led by Ms. Sheryl Lai presented Taiwan’s culture, traditions, arts, and artifacts. Additionally, Ms. Li Jia-Fang introduced the spirit of Taiwanese foods by having actual cooking sessions and the participants were also taught by Mr. Martin Huang how to write in Chinese calligraphy in addition to assisting them in comprehending the essence of its culture.
