The Philippine Nursing World Congress 2025, held from June 25 to 27 in Davao City, served as a platform for innovation and collaboration in nursing education, practice, leadership, and global health. With the theme, “Bridging Cultures, Elevating Care: The Global Impact of Filipino Nurses,” the international event celebrated the vital role of Filipino nurses in uniting diverse cultures within the healthcare field. St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) strongly contributed to this vision, with nine research posters presented by seven undergraduate and two PhD Nursing Science students. Guided by their adviser, Dr. Allan Paulo Blaquera, the student-researchers demonstrated SPUP’s commitment to academic excellence and compassionate care. The congress brought together nursing professionals and scholars nationwide for a meaningful exchange of research and advocacy.
Two SPUP entries earned top honors during the event’s poster presentations. The study “Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice on Herbal Medicine among Nurses in Northern Luzon” by Ms. Rose Ann Paet, Ms. Jinky Contreras, and Ms. Rosemarie Tadena was awarded 4th Best Poster. Meanwhile, “Environmental Shock and Patient Safety Competency Among Early Career Nurses from Cagayan Valley” by Ms. Ghelyn Q. Palatan, Mr. Levi Clark Camayang, Ms. Elspeth Eian Michelle D. Daño, Ms. Jasmine Domingo, and Ms. Lady Christine G. Esteban won 5th Best Poster. These achievements highlight SPUP’s strong research foundation and its students’ dedication to addressing real-world healthcare challenges. The recognition also underscores the university’s growing influence in the national nursing research community.
SPUP’s presence extended beyond the poster sessions. Ms. Krishan Soriano (Faculty, College of Nursing) delivered a presentation during a special session on Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing Theory. Her presentation reflected the integration of technology and empathy in modern nursing care. Dr. Elizabeth Baua also participated in the congress, showing institutional support for lifelong learning and professional growth.
