A summit on Transforming Education with the theme, “Collaborative Action for Educational Transformation towards 2050” was held on November 10, 2023 at the SPUP Global Center in Tuguegarao City. The said event was jointly organized by the Global Peace Foundation Philippines and partnership with St. Paul University Philippines.
The academic convergence aimed to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas among educators, students, and other stakeholders on how to address the challenges and opportunities of education in the 21st century. Further, it sought to identify the key drivers and enablers of educational transformation as well as the best practices and innovations that can be scaled up and replicated.
The summit featured keynote speeches and interactive sessions on various topics related to the theme such as Transforming Education in the Global South and Educational Transformation Towards 2050. The notable speakers at the summit were Dr. Tony Devine (Vice-President of Education, Global Peace Foundation) and Dr. Federico Macaranas (Former Undersecretary, Department of Foreign Affairs). Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President, St. Paul University Philippines), who earlier welcomed the attendees, joined the speakers during the pnel discussion.
The summit was attended by over 250 dynamic participants (from Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Ilocos Sur and China) – educational leaders, dedicated teachers, and enthusiastic pre-service teachers. They engaged through team sharing, reflective activities, and gamification as they explored innovative ways for educational transformation.
The seminar also generated online engagement through social media platforms, where the participants and the public were able to share their insights and feedback using #TransformingEducationPH, #GPC2023,#GlobalPeace #Peacebuilders, and #TransformEdGlobalSouth2050.
