St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), through its social service arm, the Community Development Center Foundation, Inc. (SPUPCDCFI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia) to strengthen collaborative efforts in addressing emergency response needs in Cagayan Province. The virtual signing ceremony took place on November 19, 2024.
Leading the ceremony were Sr. Merceditas O. Ang, SPC (University President, SPUP), and Mr. Shah Fiesal Hussain (Head of Global Operations, MERCY Malaysia). The event was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including Ms. Donna Rubio (Board of Trustees, MERCY Malaysia), Ms. Nuraini Rudi (Senior Programme Officer, MERCY Malaysia), Dr. Noemi T. Cabaddu (Director, CDC), and Ms. Grace Aliman (Project Manager, CDC).
This significant partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to provide timely and effective assistance to vulnerable communities. The joint initiatives focus on supporting those severely impacted by successive typhoons in Northern Luzon. By combining resources and expertise, SPUP and MERCY Malaysia aim to build resilience and foster recovery in affected areas, demonstrating their shared dedication to humanitarian service and community empowerment.
