The SPUP-CDC, being a member and local partner of the Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) Cagayan Consortium with funding support from Start Ready, hosted the Start Ready Multi-Donor Visit Luncheon Meeting. During the visit, the Cagayan Consortium, led by the Humanity and Inclusion (HI), conducted a project briefing and provided updates on the progress of the DRF initiatives in Cagayan.
Held on October 2, 2024 at the President’s meeting room, participants included representatives from FCDO CHASE, FCDO DRF, IrishAid, ECHO, GFFO, Netherlands MFA, L’Oreal EC Fund, H&M Foundation, Howden Foundation, IKEA Foundation, Start Network UK, Start Network Ph, Humanity and Inclusion, Relief International, SPUPCDCFI, and Green Meadow Development Foundation.
Presentations and discussions revolved around the endeavors of DRF Cagayan Consortium since July 2023. With the funding support from Start Ready, the consortium responded to the urgent needs of more than 5000 households in the most vulnerable communities affected by Typhoon Doksuri (Super Typhoon Egay) in Cagayan.
This year (2024), implementation of preparedness activities for anticipatory action and early response will be ensued. In particular, micro-insurance and financial inclusion cards to 750 vulnerable individuals and asset protection boxes for schools and health stations, along with various capacity development activities in the Municipalities of Baggao, Camalaniugan, and Gattaran will be provided.
