SPUP was formally recognized for its invaluable contributions to local tourism development as it received the Collaborative Tourism Spirit Award from the Provincial Government of Cagayan and the Cagayan Tourism Office. The institutional accolade was presented during the grand awarding ceremony held on November 4, 2026, at the Lujo Grand Gala Hall in Tuguegarao City. The event gathered key stakeholders, local leaders, and academic partners across the province to celebrate exceptional community partnerships and sustainable tourism initiatives that continue to showcase Cagayan’s rich cultural heritage and destination potential.
The award was conferred by provincial officials, led by EnP. Jenifer Junio-Baquiran (Provincial Tourism Officer) and PGen. Edgar B. Aglipay (Ret.) (Governor). Accepting the distinction on behalf of the university were SPUP representatives Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations, and Advocacies) and Dr. Marie Krizya Calagui (Program Coordinator, Tourism Management). Their presence emphasized SPUP’s active leadership in bridging academic excellence with public-sector programs, demonstrating how higher education institutions can effectively drive local economic growth and community-building efforts.
The recognition underscores SPUP’s outstanding dedication, enthusiasm, and consistent participation in the various programs initiated by the provincial government through the Cagayan Tourism Office. By demonstrating an exemplary model of active community involvement, sustained educational outreach, and collaborative leadership, SPUP continues to play an instrumental role in advancing Cagayan’s tourism landscape toward a more vibrant, resilient, and inclusive future for all Cagayanos.
