SPUP-BEU project, SMART IRRIGATION DRIP SYSTEM (SIDS), developed by Ms. Trisha Marielle T. Basa, Ms. Zachiebelle Avril S. Canapi, and Ms. Princess Joy R. Garcia (Grade 11 Students), secured 3rd Place in the highly competitive 2024 Socially Relevant Technologies (SRT) Contest. The achievement highlights the importance of youth-driven initiatives in promoting sustainable development through technology.
Anchored on the theme: “Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future: Transforming Agriculture through AI-Driven Green Technologies,” S.I.D.S. is an AI-powered automated system that delivers water directly to plant root zones through subsurface drip irrigation. By minimizing evaporation and optimizing water use, the system ensures crops receive the precise amount of hydration at the right time, addressing key agricultural challenges while conserving resources.
Organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, the final pitching was held by on November 22, 2024 in Taguig City. The students were coached by Dr. Learni C. Javier and Ms. Melanie Ramos.
