The School of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (SBAHM) proudly marked the Silver Anniversary of the Regional Business Expo on April 23–25, 2025. With the theme “Fostering Innovation and Creativity in Business Education Towards Sustainability,” the event brought together students, educators, alumni, and entrepreneurs from the fields of business, hospitality, and tourism for a vibrant celebration of innovation, collaboration, and industry engagement.
The expo commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration, followed by the official blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the exhibition area. The exhibition featured a diverse showcase of student-developed products, alumni-owned enterprises, and local businesses from Tuguegarao City, highlighting entrepreneurial spirit and community collaboration.
The opening program featured a warm and inspiring welcome address by Dr. Charito M. Guillermo, CPA, (Dean, SBAHM), who recognized the valuable contributions of former deans—Sister Helen Malubay, SPC, Dr. Giged Battung, CPA, Dr. Jocelyn Carag, and Dr. Corazon Dela Cruz—for laying the foundation of excellence that has sustained the expo over the past 25 years. Dr. Marjorie Bambalan, (Chairperson, 2025 Business Expo), then presented the statement of purpose, emphasizing the role of innovation in achieving sustainability in business education.
The plenary sessions featured distinguished industry experts and practitioners. Keynote speakers included Dr. Julius Sol Jamero, (Vice President for Academic Affairs, Misamis Oriental Institute of Science and Technology), and Ms. Francine Torres-Collado, (Founder, Honey Bakes Café), both of whom shared insights on emerging trends and the importance of entrepreneurial creativity.
In addition, the parallel sessions were led by respected professionals: Ms. Charmain Mayo-Castillo, (Alumna and Owner, TPR Events Styling/Chamelas); Mr. Rey Villon, (Senior Budget and Management Specialist, Department of Budget and Management Region 2); Mr. Jaime Tan, (President, Haranah Tours Corp.); and Dr. Sally Vitug (Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, Cagayan Tourism Office). Topics covered spanned entrepreneurship, business management, accountancy education, and developments in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The three-day expo also hosted a variety of academic and skills competitions designed to showcase student excellence and practical knowledge. These included the Business Quiz Bee, Hospitality/Tourism Quiz Bee, Accounting Quiz Bee, Tour Guiding, Tour Package Proposal, Product Presentation, Flairtending, and research presentations—each reflecting the creativity, competitiveness, and professionalism of the participants.
The 25th Regional Business Expo not only honored a legacy of academic and entrepreneurial excellence but also reaffirmed SPUP’s commitment to nurturing innovation and sustainability in business education for the future.
