SPUP successfully held the Culmination Showcase for its Certificate in Applied Creativity program on September 12, 2026. The art gallery highlighted the transformative journey of the pioneer cohort, comprising of 20 student-participants, who presented compelling artistic works that bridged concept and creation. Built upon the core pillars of seeing, thinking, and doing, the exhibition offered visitors a vivid look into how deep observation and intentional reflection evolve into meaningful, hands-on creative expressions.
Under the masterful and inspiring guidance of Design Mentor Mr. Josef Crisanto, ably assisted by Mr. Clark Mendoza, the participants engaged in a rich pedagogical process that challenged them to push beyond traditional artistic boundaries. The instructors guided the cohort through an iterative and non-linear approach, encouraging a continuous cycle of relooking, rethinking, and remaking. Throughout the course, which combined online learning via MS Teams with immersive face-to-face sessions held from June through August 2026, students balanced visual analysis with rigorous research and tangible material experimentation.
The Culmination Showcase served as the physical realization of this holistic development, displaying diverse projects that reflected both critical thought and refined technical execution. Each piece exhibited in the gallery represented a personal narrative of growth, showing how the participants transitioned from passive observers into critical thinkers and active makers. The atmosphere was charged with celebration as SPUP administrators, SPC Sisters, family members of the certificate-completers, and media partners gathered alongside students, and faculty to explore the collection and engage directly with the creators about their creative processes.
As a pioneer offering, the Certificate in Applied Creativity underscores SPUP’s steadfast commitment to fostering artistic growth and empowering a new generation of visionary creators. By offering a platform that blends conceptual depth with practical execution, the university continues to cultivate an environment where innovative ideas can flourish. The event ended on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on the community and reaffirming the vital role of creative education in driving meaningful artistic expression.
