St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) successfully hosted the Regional Information Technology and Engineering (ITE) Summit 2026, centered on the theme “Building Smarter Futures Through Technology and Engineering”. Held on July 20-22, 2026, the event brought together students, educators, researchers, and industry professionals from across Region II in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Sanitary Engineering. The summit opened with keynote addresses from Dr. Julieta Paras (Regional Director, CHED Region II), Engr. Pinky Jimenez (Regional Director, DICT Region II and Assistant Secretary for Infostructure Management), and Atty. Remedios Vigem-Teves (Assistant Regional Director, DOLE Region II), who all emphasized the crucial role of innovation, digital infrastructure, and workforce readiness.
The first day’s technical sessions set an inspiring tone for the event. Dr. Sony Valdez introduced participants to modern software frameworks in his session on Python game programming and Django web development. Following this, Engr. Joven Jacinto urged future engineers to tackle global challenges by creating innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.
On the second day, IT and Computer Engineering delegates attended specialized plenary sessions covering critical digital topics. Speakers included Mr. Eliezer Rabadon (CEO, DVCode Technologies, Inc.), Mr. Reynaldo Lugtu Jr. (Founder, CEO, and CTO, Hungry Workhorse Consultancy Inc.), Mr. Zahn Xandre Gavino (Cybersecurity Analyst, CyberMaxx and Founder, Unit3500), and Mr. Naz Dane Mauri (Founder and CEO, OSINT Bastion). Simultaneously, the Civil and Sanitary Engineering track featured Ar. Butch Dariel Nera (Sustainability Managing Director, JCVA Project Management and Development Inc.) and Engr. Anderson Gonzales, Ph.D. (University Director for Research, Cagayan State University), who focused on sustainable design, circular engineering, adaptive structures, and environmental stewardship.
During the afternoon concurrent sessions, delegates deepened their practical expertise through specialized workshops. Mr. Gil Tario (Senior Consultant for Mandiant Managed Defense, Google Cloud) discussed the evolution of AI-driven cybersecurity and automated defense systems. Concurrently, Mr. Eliezer Rabadon (CEO, DVCode Technologies, Inc.) hosted a hands-on workshop focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to advance software engineering and modern programming.
The summit concluded on its third day with academic and technical skills competitions, including research presentations, programming, quiz bees, animated poster making, and robotics. Outstanding students, coaches, and institutions were recognized during an Awarding Ceremony. The event successfully fulfilled its mission, leaving participants with enhanced skills, stronger professional networks, and renewed motivation to lead in their respective fields.
