St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) significantly bolstered its international standing in nursing education at the 29th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars (EAFONS), held from February 26 to 28, 2026, in Singapore. Representing the university were Dr. Allan Paulo L. Blaquera (Program Coordinator), Mr. Edilbert Philip C. Garcia, Ms. Cee Jay Marie G. Dayag (Faculty Members), and Ms. Geraldine E. Resonable (MSN student), accompanied by Dr. Elizabeth Baua, (Member, EAFONS Executive Committee). Aligned with the theme “Innovate, Integrate, Inspire: Advancing Nursing Excellence in the Digital Era,” the event at the National University of Singapore gathered over 1,700 participants from more than 40 countries to collaborate on the future of digital healthcare.
The SPUP delegation showcased a diverse range of scholarly contributions, highlighted by Dr. Blaquera’s featured session on Nursing Leadership for Global Health Equity, where he presented on nurse-led models of care. The team also shared impactful research across various categories, including a training program for Glasgow Coma Scale assessment and a study by Ms. Resonable on high-fidelity simulation modules for childbirth education. Mr. Garcia presented a poster session on the effectiveness of video-based range of motion exercises for stroke recovery, emphasizing the university’s commitment to integrating technology with clinical practice. These presentations highlighted the practical application of nursing theories in solving real-world medical challenges and improving patient outcomes. By presenting such multifaceted studies, the faculty demonstrated a comprehensive approach to nursing that spans from emergency response to specialized maternal care. Furthermore, the inclusion of student-led research, such as the Glasgow Coma Scale training program, illustrates SPUP’s commitment to mentoring the next generation of nurse-researchers. These collective works emphasized how bold innovation and wise integration can elevate the nursing profession within the digital landscape.
SPUP’s participation underscored the vital role of nurses as leaders in an automated healthcare landscape. This experience motivated scholars to drive health impacts through both bedside care and global policymaking.
