St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP)–SITE Seismic Design Team advanced to the National Finals of the 1st National Undergraduate Seismic Design Challenge. Organized by the XSTRUCTURES Engineering Associates, the team successfully overcame the regional qualifiers held in Baguio City on January 23, 2026, earning a well-deserved place among the country’s top contenders.
The student team, composed of Mr. Cristian F. Saldua, Mr. Kurt Zyke R. Ticaa, and Ms. Gwynn Arcebido, secured Third Place after an intense and highly competitive round that tested technical knowledge, creativity, and structural resilience under simulated seismic conditions. Their strong performance reflected not only individual competence but also effective collaboration and sound application of earthquake engineering principles.
Under the guidance of Engr. Marcos P. Esguerra, Jr., the achievement underscored SPUP’s sustained commitment to quality engineering education, innovation, and disaster-resilient design. As the team prepared for the National Showdown in March 2026, they carried forward SPUP’s vision of producing engineers capable of designing safer, more resilient structures for communities facing seismic risks.
