St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) celebrated another significant achievement in student innovation as teams from its Basic Education Unit (BEU) garnered top honors at the Socially Relevant Technology (SRT) Innovation Contest 2025, organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). Held on November 28, 2025, at the University of Makati, the competition revolved around the theme “Sustainable Urban Development and Green Solutions.”
Team ShelfGuard, composed of Zachie Canapi, Princess Garcia, Prima Aguinaldo, Amber Abrigo, and Trisha Basa, clinched 3rd Place with SHELFGUARD, an innovative three-chamber system that combines refrigeration, dehydration, and fermentation to extend the shelf life of food products.
Team WattWise, composed of Mark Angelo Gannaban, Lyndel Castro, Angel Agatep, and Ronnel Camacam, secured 4th Place with WattWise, a smart power strip engineered to improve energy efficiency and electrical safety by monitoring device usage, preventing overload, minimizing unnecessary consumption, and reducing equipment misuse.
These accomplishments underscore SPUP’s unwavering commitment to developing young innovators who design practical, sustainable, and transformative solutions for today’s rapidly evolving urban environments.
