STIKES Suaka Insan, a school of the SPC Sisters in (Banjarmasin) Indonesia, held a lecture focusing on Paulinian Core Values for its Nursing and Physical Therapy students on February 26, 2024 via Zoom platform. The academic activity was conducted along their program on the “Implementation of Paulinian Values in ASEAN Cultural Dynamics and Future Development.” For the said activity, STIKES Suaka Insan collaborated with SPUP as its partner institution. Invited to serve as the resource speaker on the topic was Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies).

In his presentation, Dr. Lappay discussed the significance of the Paulinian Core Values (5Cs) as “the essence of Paulinian identity that, in ever changing world, they remain constant.” He explained the characteristics of the core values of Commission, Charism, Charity, Community, and Christocentric by providing practical examples on how to practice them as students, teachers, and administrators. Considering the cultural background and faith affiliation of the participants, he related the 5Cs to various facets of life, that “regardless of the diversities we encounter in the world, the aim of Paulinian education, through its core values, is the formation of human beings (character, purpose, principles, action, and relation to others).” He emphasized that these 5Cs permeate Paulinian interaction, action, and mission – “until Christ is formed in us” (Gal. 4:19).

In the said academic activity, there were about 300 participants, composed of students, teachers, SPC Sisters and administrators led by Sr. Imelda Ladjar, SPC (Dean, STIKES Suaka Insan). An open forum and sharing of insights and reflection were ensued following the lecture.
