In line with the affiliation of SPUP as a delivering University of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, PATHWAY, a hackathon was held to hone students’ skills on providing solutions to real-life, current societal problems.

The 2023 SPUP-PATHWAY Hackathon was partcipated by university level students who attended the Pre-Hackathon lecture and apprenticeship on July 4, 2023 and the main hackathon with demo and pitching on July 10-11, 2023. The main problem that was given the teams was on “Enterprise Management and Logistics” in consideration of the need of Region 2.

With the assistance of Mr. Mario Guillo Lopez and Mr. Israel Pastor Sanchez, representatives from Alicante University, Spain, and Mr. Mars Cacacho, Founder of Hack the North Ph and Randomware.co, the Paulinian innovators were guided of the process towards hacking solutions in context.

The winning project is titled LAKBAYAN by Shaynnah Quilang (BS Tourism Management) and Serafin Gazzingan (BS Information Technology), with SHIROI MICHI of Jerome Ventura (BS Computer Engineering) and Mark Agustin (BS Information Technology) as Second Place, and GO FINDERS by Graciella Mary Goyagoy (BS Tourism Management), Baltimore Baliuag (BS Business Administration – Major in Financial Management), and Elijah Alonzo (BS Information Technology) emerging as Third Place. With them were 3 other finalists out of the 24 teams of aspiring innovators.

The champion will be given a chance to attend an entrepreneurship conference in Europe sponsored by the European Union. They also received a P50,000 worth of consultancy services from Ramdomware.co and medals. Moreover, all projects of the finalists will be turned over to SPUP Research Team for assistance in the documentation and write up for patenting sponsored by St. Paul University Philippines.
