October 14, 2022 – As a project partner of “Promoting the employAbility and enTrepreneurship of Higher education graduates through innovative WAYs in the Philippines (PATHWAY),” SPUP actively participated in the PATHWAY National Event spearheaded by the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP) at Dusit Thani Manila.

Dubbed as “Pathways to Employability and Entrepreneurship in the New Normal,” the program featured discourses, presentations, and discussions on policy reforms for employability and entrepreneurship, labor and employment situationer, new initiatives on employment, entrepreneurship competencies, global workforce trends, challenges and opportunities, and strengthening policies and partnership for entrepreneurship and employability.

The roster of speakers included: Sen. Francis Escudero (Chair, Senate Higher Education Committee), Sen. Sherwin Gathalian (Vice Chair, Senate Higher Education Committee), Rep. Mark Go (Chair, House Higher Education Committee), USec. Carmela Torres (Department of Labor and Employment), Helen Grace Baisa (Director, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines), Mr. Christoph Wagner (Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation in the Philippines), Ms. Cristina Beans (Senior Project Manager, University of Alicante), Dr. Cherrie Melanie Diego (Director, CHED Office of Programs and Standards Development), Dr. Xenia Bitera (Director, LPU Center for Research and Innovation), Ms. Louisa Pattison (Co-Founder and Research Consultant, Elbe Consulting), Mr. Ramon Medina (President, Human Resource Innovation Solutions), ASec Paul Vincent Anover (Department of Labor and Employment), Mr. Karl Pacolor (Division  Chief, DTI Competitiveness Bureau), Dr. John Luis  Lagdameo (Director, ADMU Business Resource Center) and Dr. Emmanuel Houze, Dean, University of Montpellier – School of Management).

SPUP’s delegation was led by Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), together with Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, Internationalization), Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies), Mrs. Belen Lim (Coordinator, Employability and Entrepreneurship Laboratory), Mrs. Lilibeth Coronel (Consultant, ICT) and Ms. Joyce Arao (Technical Staff, ICT).

With SPUP and ECCP, the PATHWAY Project also involves the following institutions and organizations: Ateneo De Manila, University, Benguet State University, Lyceum of the Philippines – Batangas, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Alicante (Spain), University of Montpellier (France), Commission on Higher Education and Suyomano. The said project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The National Event served as a convergence of government line agencies, Higher Education Institutions, private sectors and business industry.
