July 27, 2022 – St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) through its Community Development Center Foundation Inc. (CDCFI), facilitated the release of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) to the beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) at the SPUP Basic Education Unit Open Gymnasium.

The LAG distribution extended the Seed Capital Fund of up to 15,000 PHP each to 48 beneficiaries from Barangay Malacabibi, Solana, Cagayan and Barangay Larion Bajo, Tuguegarao City. This financial aid aims to support the sustainability of local Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in their respective business ventures from poultry, farming, sari-sari store, talipapa, bread and pastries, cookery, and other forms of entrepreneurship.

Dir. Cezario Espejo, (Regional Director, DSWD FO2) emphasized that: “Hangarin naming sa DSWD na makagawa ng pagbabago sa buhay ng mga nangangailangan sa pamamagitan nitong Livelihood Assistance Grant para mas maging sustainable ang inyong pamumuhay.”

Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC, (University President) reaffirmed in her message – “Kami dito sa SPUP ay handang tumulong upang tugunan ang inyong pangangailangan sa tulong ng aming Community Development Center. Gusto rin namin na i-commit ang aming sarili para mabigyan rin kayo ng kaalaman kung paano ninyo papalaguin ang financial assistance na ibibigay sa inyo upang lubos ninyo itong mapakinabangan.”

Present during the ceremonial release of LAG were officers from the DSWD Promotive Services Division, representatives from the SLP, SPUP Administrators, faculty, Guidance Counsellors, leaders of the PVCD-UNESCO Club, and student representatives from the SBAHM, SASTE, SNAHS, SITE, and SOM
