Ms. Divine Cagayan Suyu (BS Accountancy 4), emerged as one of the 108 delegates for the first ASEAN Young Climate Leaders Programme 2022 (ASEAN YCLP) – a leadership development programme run by Common Purpose in partnership with ASEAN Foundation, SAP and GIZ.  The pilot ASEAN YCLP paved the way to gather young leaders across the ASEAN region to share and exchange ideas on environmental issues to create an ecosystem that takes positive action towards creating sustainable living in the ASEAN communities.

The four-day virtual programme, held on January 17-20, 2022, commenced with a Kick-off session which served as the orientation for all the delegates. After which, series of challenges and activities were participated in by all the delegates through Zoom Conferencing and access in their Moodle account platforms. Mentorship awaits the delegates as they will be having Sustainability mentorship sessions starting on February to June 2022.

Out of over 1,000 applications, Ms. Suyu was selected as one of the nine Filipino delegates who were screened based on commitment, experience, advocacy projects and passion for climate and environment issues in the region.  All the ASEAN participants were grouped according to the seven sub-themes where Ms. Suyu emerged as part of the CH1-Chemicals and Waste sector. All participants are now part of the global Common Purpose Alumni.
