St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) engaged in a Voter Education Outreach Program with the Philippine Press Institute, Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance, Hans Seidel Foundation and The Northern Forum on November 20, 2021. With the theme: “Media and Information Literacy: Towards A Democracy Resilient Society,” the activity aimed to advocate for the vital role of intelligent and informed decision making in the democratic process. Conducted virtually via zoom, the program was opened by the welcome messages of Mr. Joenal Rayos (Trustee for Luzon, Philippine Press Institute, Atty. Gwendolyn P. Gana (President, Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance) and Dr. Allan Peejay M. Lappay (Director, SPUP Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies).

The educational endeavor featured lectures and presentions of: Prof. Edmund Tayao (Ateneo School of Government) on Structural Reforms as Imperative to Strengthening Democracy; Dr. Hemady Mora (Polytechnic University of the Philippines) on Democracy Resilience; Atty. James Arthur Jimenez (Commission on Election) on Credibility of Electoral Processes; Ms. Merinette Retona (Vera Files) on Media Literacy; Ms. Rowena Paraan (ABS-CBN) on Voices from the Grassroots; and Ms. Carolyn Arguillas (MindaNews) on Covering the Elections.

Streamed live via the Facebook pages of SPUP, Philippine Press Institute and The Northern Forum, the activity was facilitated by Mr. Ariel Sebellino (Executive Director, Philippine Press Institute), while the discussions were moderated by Ms. Joyce Pañares (News Editor, Manila Standard).
