SPUP’s College of  Nursing was invited by the University of Brawijaya – College of Nursing to their Students’ e-forum on October 30, 2021. Highlights of SPUP’s presentations were the experiences of the Nursing students in online learning, the structure and functions of the Paulinian Nursing Student Organization, and the online class modalities used in Univeristy.

Four (4) Nursing students were invited to present and share their experiences and insights in the delivery of online learning in SPUP. Ms. Carina Loise Javier, (4th Year Nursing student)  talked about their learning experiences in the contexts of before and during the pandemic. Mr. Eivram Jake Manding, (3rd year Nursing student) presented the structure and the functions of the Paulinian Nursing Student Organization (PNSO) and the actions taken to continue on functioning even during the pandemic. He was followed by Ms. Marie Antonette Nang, ( 3rd year Nursing student), who shared their Online Clinical Learning experiences and on SPUP’s use of Lecturio as an online learning platform. Lastly, Mr. Donn Fabian Emmanuel Ferrer (2nd year Nursing student) related his experiences in using Labster and the conduct of the Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE).

Following their presentations, the students from University of Brawijaya also asked questions on how they cope with clinical learning in this time of the pandemic. This was answered by Mr. Manding, who emphasized that “nursing is an art”. Despite limitations and challenges to practice procedures at home, students and teachers improvise as needed paving the way for creative simulations, assimilation of concepts, rehearsal and execution of needed skills and use of critical thinking.

Aside from the 4 chosen presenters, twenty (20) other Nursing students from 1st year to 3rd year were also invited to attend the e-forum. With the students, Ms. Fatima Sheryl Agcaoili, Ms. Kandy Abuan (both Clinical Instructors) and Ms. Alida Marallag (Program Coordinator for Nursing) were also present during the e-forum.
