Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) served as a discussant in the panel of discussion on “Internationalization Pre-During and Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Together with Sr. Merceditas were Dr. Bert Tuga (President, Philippine Normal University) and Ret. VAdm. Eduardo Santos, AFP (President, Maritime Academy of the Asia and the Pacific). Their respective Educational Institutions were recognized as Winners in the 1st Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Award.
The activity was part of the Forum on Higher Education of the Future organized by the University of the Philippines Open University and the Commission on Higher Education on June 25, 2021. The virtual convergence was endeavored to discuss on new perspectives on gearing up Higher Education Institutions for a future-ready and sustainable education system in the country.
The presentations included the discussions on Internationalization by Dr. Imee Martinez (Director, International Linkages of UP System), Sustainable Higher Education by Prof. Asha Kanwar (President/CEO, Commonwealth of Learning), and University of the Future by Dr. Libing Wang (Senior Program Specialist in Higher Education, UNESCO). Furthermore, a panel discussion on Sustainable Higher Education was also ensued.
