September 30, 2020 – As part of the “SPUP Community Action Responding to Emergency Situation (SPUP CARES) program,” the University’s Community Development Center, working with ChildFund Philippines, extended its support to the distance learning program of public school students in the Province of Apayao. The endeavor was undertaken as classes in public elementary and secondary schools were set to resume on October 5, 2020.

SPUP, working with ChildFund Philippines, donated school supplies, such as bond papers and Epson-printer inks for the production of students’ learning modules. The School District of Luna was the first recipient, where Mrs. Wilfreda Gamiao, Schools District Supervisor, together with the School Heads of the District of Luna, received the assistance delivered by SPUP. The University is also set to distribute school supplies for the same purpose to the School District of Flora in Apayao, this coming month.

The said undertaking is SPUP’s continuing efforts to engage the Indigenous People (IP) communities in various efforts promotive of their well-being as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
