As an offshoot of the International Day of Peace and in celebration of the International Day of Nonviolence, SPUP conducted a Safety and Security Forum on October 02, 2019. The Advocacy Office, together with the Human Resource and Student Affairs Units spearheaded activities for the employees and the students.

At the Science Multi-Media Room, the Laboratory Assistants and Campus Marshals participated in the Disaster Response Forum facilitated by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Tuguegarao City) through FO1 Jeanann Laylay. The discussion centered on how to respond to emergency in order prevent harm that may inflict the members of the academic community.

The Students’ Security Symposium was led by the Philippine National Police (PNP – Tuguegarao City) at the University Gymnasium. Relevant to upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (on November 25), the activity highlighted the presentation of NUP Lourdes Agustin on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act (RA 9262). The forum also featured the lecture of PLt. Isabelita Gano on Crime and Drug Prevention. The students were provided with practical approaches and response to prevent the occurrence of crime, abuses and violence.

Both sessions culminated with an Open Forum. The speakers interacted with the participants as they answered queries and clarifications from them.
