On July 22, 2019, St. Paul University Philippines became the first Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the country to be accepted in the China-ASEAN Alliance of Universities. SPUP was unanimously voted upon by the members of the Alliance together with HEIs from Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, China and Cambodia. Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, International Relations) received the plaque of acceptance for SPUP. It was witnessed by Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies) and Mr. Yongming Luo (Chinese Students Service Center).

The induction of SPUP to the China-ASEAN Alliance of Universities was held during the 2019 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week organized by the Guizhou Institute of Technology in Guizhuo, China. Dr. Morales also presented the internationalization initiatives of the University at the inaugural session of the Alliance along with the theme: “Industry and Higher Education Integration and Collaborative Innovation.” At the sideline of the conference, the delegation also met the officials of SPUP partner-schools in China and some prospect partner-institutions.

The week-long conference also included cultural and heritage immersion.
