In its aim to hone the journalistic skills of student-writers, school paper advisers and coaches, the Division of Tuguegarao City conducted the Division Schools Press Conference last September 29-30 at the Cagayan National High School which was participated in by 35 campus journalists from The Paulinette, the official publication of SPUP’s Grade School Department.
For English medium, Yanny Valera and Gianna Addun, clinched 1st place in Editorial Writing and Copyreading & Headline Writing respectively. Moreover, Seneca Marciano grabbed the second place for Photojournalism, and Sheryl Reyes also won 2nd in Column Writing. Set in 4th spots were MK Genobili, Amara Lasam, and Ella Gorospe, for News Writing, Science and Technology, and Sports Writing respectively.
For Filipino medium, Zachiabelle Canapi bagged 4th place in Feature Writing, while Venn Baldino (Science and Technology), Yalena Addun (Copyreading & Headline Writing), and Shayne Garcia (Column Writing) all placed 7th in their respective categories.
Dr. John Kit Masigan, the TP adviser and coach said, “This year is definitely tough since we are fielding grades 4-6 students in all individual categories for both medium. Nevertheless, the team is ever zealous to give the best for its comeback, through the overwhelming support of parents and the administration.”
The winners in the division contest shall advance to the regional schools press conference slated this November in the City of Ilagan.
