SPUP-IRO DIRECTOR JOINS IN-CANADA TRAINING ON ADULT EDUCATION

Jeremy Godofredo C.Morales, Ph.D., (Director for International Relations and ETEEAP), was a recipient of the In-Canada Training on Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 12-24, 2018 sponsored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).

The Second Career/Adult Education Training Program for Philippine Higher Education aimed to provide PHEI participants a contextual background, theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and best practices to develop effective instructional strategies and curriculum that could translate into measurable improvement in adult student learning.

Moreover, said In-Canada training was prelude to a successive 6-month in-country training-workshops which leads the development of an institutional agenda for sustainable adult education programs where the participants will be immersed and trained in a) learning the principles of adult learning and how they are applied in the development of learning experiences; b) developing an appreciation for the diversity of adult audiences; c) explaining the role of learners, adult educators, and learning organizations in improving performance and advancing professional development; d) reviewing models of learning experience design for their application in technology selection, developing solution and meeting learner needs; and, e) exploring current trends in education that are influencing how learning is designed and delivered in a rapidly changing environment.

While in Canada, Dr. Morales, together with selected participants from various PHEIs and CHED Officials, received instruction and lectures from professors of OISE, Josie Di Vincenzo and Michael Cassidy, as well as immersed in sharing sessions with Adult and Continuing Education providers in Ontario such as the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, eCampus Ontario, York University, Ryerson University, Seneca College, Sheridan College, George Brown College, and TV Ontario.
