Students and teachers from Haig Girls’ School (HGS) in Singapore and SPUP’s Grade School participated in a virtual school immersion program on October 30, 2024. The said online engagement was coordinated by Anthony Anthon in partnership with SMS Phoenix Global, managed by Dr. Sri Devi Aynaru. The activity aimed at showcasing the cultural heritage and educational values of both countries.
The program featured the following: a presentation on Philippines’ cultural background, national symbols, and values; an introduction of SPUP, emphasizing its commitment to education rooted in Catholic values; a discussion on the importance of nurturing character alongside academic achievement and social responsibility; and students’ reflection on the Paulinian Core Values – how they shape their educational experiences and contribute to their development.
The activity also higlighted interactions through virtual breakout discussions and Q&A sessions, where students engaged with each other on various topics. They also participated in a collaborative escape room game that challenged them to work together with overseas peers to solve puzzles and complete tasks.
The online collaborative undertaking between HGS and SPUP demonstrates the thrusts of both institution for cross-cultural understanding in education, encouraging students to learn from one another.
