St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) served as the exclusive educational host in the region for the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Hawaii during its performance on March 9, 2026. The event was held at the SPUP Student Center in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Manila to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Philippines-U.S. diplomatic relations and the United States’ Freedom250 celebration. The venue was filled to capacity with eager students, employees and SPC Sisters who gathered to witness the musical performance. This vibrant celebration not only showcased world-class talent but also served as a powerful testament to the enduring bond between the two nations.
The activity was facilitated by a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Manila, led by Mr. Chad Kinnear (Deputy Director, Public Affairs) and Ms. Rose Jade Delgado (Coordinator, Public Engagement). The musical unit, based at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, featured Lt. Col. Joseph Hansen, MSgt. Daniel Santos, SrA. Brennan Tolman, SSgt. Courtney Woods, SrA. Eric Nakamoto, and TSgt. Timothy Reeder. The performance was part of an outreach initiative representing the 46,000 Airmen serving across the Indo-Pacific. A major highlight of the event occurred when the U.S. Air Force Band jammed together with the SPUP student band, creating a dynamic fusion of talent and energy. This spontaneous collaboration brought the audience to their feet, showcasing a shared passion for music that transcends borders.
As the only university in the region selected to host the band, SPUP provided a platform for students and faculty to engage directly with the U.S. delegation. The event emphasized the “friends, partners, and allies” framework of the U.S.-Philippines bilateral relationship through cultural and musical exchange. The program concluded with a ceremonial recognition of the shared history and ongoing cooperation between the two nations. Following the conclusion of the activity, the Airmen spent time interacting directly with the students, sharing laughs and taking photos in a relaxed atmosphere. This personal engagement left a lasting impression on the SPUP community, reinforcing the spirit of unity that the performance aimed to inspire.
