The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan formalized an academic partnership with St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) on November 27, 2025. The event brought together the SPUP administration, led by Dr. Agripina Maribbay (Vice-President for Academics), along with officials, faculty members and students of the School of Arts, Sciences and Teacher Education (SASTE), who welcomed the Uzbek delegation. The visiting officials were led by Ms. Shaklo Rakhmonovna Terimova (Head of the Ministry of Pre School and School Education International Program) and included Ms. Nilufarkhon Makhamdalievna Umarova (Human Resource Department – Recruitment), Mr. Sardorbek Sultanmurat Og’li Rajapov (Human Resource Department – Recruitment), Mr. MAdaminbek Backtiyor Ug’li Abdullaev (Administrative Associate Head), and Mr. Reynante S. Bunuan (English Language Specialist). The activity was also witnessed by officials from the Commission on Higher Education, the Department of Education, and other educational institutions in Region II, underscoring the agreement’s local significance and broad support.
The signed MOU establishes a formal, actionable framework focused entirely on academic cooperation, with MoPSE demonstrating strong commitment to this partnership by seeking to adapt St. Paul University Philippines’ (SPUP) highly-regarded teacher education programs for integration into its national structure. This collaboration extends to establishing joint professional training programs in key areas like English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, thereby leveraging SPUP’s academic expertise for professional development.
The partnership guarantees continuous cooperation in research and the exchange of knowledge, which will directly support the Ministry’s educational reform agenda while cementing the Philippines’ distinguished role as a global provider of educational excellence and talent.
