The inauguration of SPUP Entrepreneurship & Employment Center (SPUP-EEC) was held on March 14, 2024. Leading the opening ceremonies was Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), together with the administrative team of the university. In her welcome message, Sr. Merceditas explained that the SPUP-EEC supports the development of entrepreneurial skills and fosters employment opportunities for students in the University. Accordingly, the center serves as a hub for resources, training, and networking opportunities for students to start their own businesses or find employment. She also thanked SPUP Media-Partners and the members of the Tuguegarao City Chamber of Commerce for their support to the EEC project.

The launching was highlighted by the presentation of Mrs. Belen Lim (Coordinator, SPUP-EEC) about the new office. She further discussed that the center is geared towards supporting entrepreneurship, facilitating job creation, fostering innovation and collaboration, and promoting economic growth. An interactive open forum was ensued after her discussion. Moreover, reflections and insights along with congratulatory remarks, on the pioneering initiative of the University in the opening of SPUP-EEC, were shared. A visit to SPUP Heritage Center capped the inaugural convergence.

Present in the inauguration were members of Tuguegarao City Chamber of Commerce (Dir. Purita Licas, Dr. Ellen Tuddao, and Mrs. Keshelyn Cangas), Media-Partners (Ms. Gene Baquiran from Philippine Information Agency; Mrs. Sany Lopez and Mrs. Vivian De Guzman from Radyo Pilipinas Tuguegarao- DWPE; Mrs. Annabel Patinga from Filipinas Broadcasting – DZCV; Mr. Rodel Ordillos, Ms. Sarah Malabanan and Mr. Servilon Nicolas from RBC Cable; Mr. Cayetano Tuddao from GMA and Northern Bulletin), and officers of the SPUP Alumni Association, Inc. Student-interns of PIA and DWPE-PBS from Cagayan State University (CSU) and officers of the Paulinian Student Government (PSG) also witnessed the event.

The SPUP-EEC is an offshoot of the University’s participation in the PATHWAY (Promoting the employAbility and enTrepreneurship of Higher education graduates through innovative WAYs in the Philippines) project co-funded by Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. During the program, Ms. Shaynnah Maie Quilang (BS Tourism Management) shared her experiences as a participant in the 2023 Valencia Digital Summit in Spain, which was made possible through the PATHWAY program.
