February 22, 2024 – St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), Global Peace Foundation Philippines, Inc. (GPFPh) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Camalaniugan inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of “All-lights Village Project” in the said locality. Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), Hon. Isidro Cabaddu (Mayor, Camalanuigan) and Ms. Jocelyn Remigio (Program Director, GPFPh) signed the document for partnership and collaboration.

The “All-Lights Village Project” is an endeavor initiated by GPFPH. It aims to promote self-reliance among families and communities through the provision of solar lamps to households and solar streetlights to villages. It promotes sustainable community development by giving access to a clean and dependable light source. This, in return, will foster quality of life (security, education, health, etc…) to families and communities.

For this particular undertaking, Barangay Dammang Norte (in Camalanuigan, Cagayan), an Indigenous People’s (IP) community, consisting of 51 households will serve as the pilot area. The said community was chosen after a series of coordination, consultation and community needs assessment pursuit with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Camalanuigan. Moreover, SPUP’s partner- IP community in Barangay Aggugaddan (Peñablanca, Cagayan) also benefitted from the project as 40 households were granted solar lights.

The MOA signing activity culminated in the distribution of solar lamps to family-beneficiaries in Camalanuigan. Prior to the said activity, project orientation and perspective setting were conducted on February 21, 2024. The realization of the said partnership and collaborative project among SPUP, GPFPh and LGU Camalanuigan is spearheaded by SPUP’s Community Development Center.
