SPUP’s celebration of its 19th Mid-Year Commencement Exercises, on January 27, 2024, was graced by His Excellency Luc Vèron (European Union Ambassador to the Philippines) as the Guest Speaker. With the theme, “Fostering creativity, productivity and sustainability through SPUP’s transformative education,” Ambassador Vèron witnessed the marching of 1,313 graduates who completed their bachelor’s, graduate school (master’s and doctoral) and medical degrees in SPUP. Moreover, reflecting the internationality of the University, the graduates were both local and international students from the Philippines, Indonesia, China, India, Papua New Guinea and Nigeria.

In his commencement address to the graduates and the entire SPUP academic community, Ambassador Vèron shared words of inspiration drawing from his transformative journey. He encouraged them to passionately “embrace the power of collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a global perspective and making a lasting impact.”

Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) led the University Administrators in welcoming Ambassdor Veron together with Madame Nicole Weissman (Ambassador’s Spouse), Ms. Cynthia Hendaoui (Attaché), and Ms. Michiko Quinto (Assistant to the Political Section). They were also joined by guests from regional government agencies – Atty. Marites Lappay (Regional Director, Civil Service Commission) and Dr. Arnel Melad (Chief, Professional Regulations Officer, Professional Regulations Commission).

Prior to the graduation ceremonies, a baccalaureate mass, presided by Rev. Fr. Fredel Agatep (Rector, Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Piat), was held at the Our Lady of Chartres Chapel with a rite of mission sending. In addition, Ms. Krisarah Enriquez, RPh, National Top 9 in the November 2023 Pharmacy Licensure Examination, was also recognized during the ceremonies.
