One Hundred fifty-seven (157) Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Nutritions Scholars (BNS) from the municipalities of Abulug and Pamplona, Cagayan completed their Primary Health Care Training through a graduation rites held on November 25, 2023 at SPUP-Mo. Madeleine Hall. Along with Sr. Merceditas Ang, (University President), the event was also graced by Dr. Amelita M. Pangilinan, CESO IV (Regional Director, Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development) and Dr. Rebecca C. Battung (Officer-in-Charge, Cagayan-Provincial Health Office) who also served as Guest Speakers.

The said project was collaboratively endeavored by SPUP-Community Development Center (CDC) and German Doctors for Developing Countries (e.V.) aimed towards improving the health situation and quality of life of the vulnerable population in SPUP’s partner-communities.The participants successfully completed an intensive training for 30 days and passed the final examination administered by the training team.

The event was also witnessed by Dr. Maria Gracelyn P. Delim (Development Management Officer, DOH), Dr. Litamin Gonzalez, (Municipal Health Officer, Abulug), Dr. Melvin Rey D. De Jesus, (Municipal Health Officer, Pamplona) Barangay Officials (from Abulug and Pamplona, Cagayan), SPUP employees and students.
