November 09, 2023 – With the theme, “Opportunities for Accountants in the Changing Business Environment,” students and faculty members of SPUP’s College of Accountancy actively participated in the discussion of Ms. Maria Victoria Españo (Member, SPUP Board of Trustees).
Held at the Science Multi-Media Hall, the academic exercise provided a learning experience towards fostering competencies among SPUP-BS Accountancy students. Ms. Españo shared the prospects and challenges of their future profession vis-à-vis the dynamism of the business ecosystem. She emphasized that qualities, such as critical thinking, innovativeness, creativity, and good communication, are important in order to thrive amidst the complexities of the contemporary business environment. Accordingly, “accounting is not just about counting beans; it’s about making every bean count.”
Ms. Españo, a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Management Accountant, and a Certified GRI professional, is the former CEO of Punongbayan and Araullo Grant Thornton.
