SPUP Vice President for Finance, Sr. Ma. Lirio Gavan, SPC and BEU faculty member, Dr. John Kit Masigan represented SPUP at the Regional Integration in Asia (RIA) Course on October 26-27, 2018 at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Makati City, Philippines.
The RIA course, an intensive two-day program, aims to enable University executives to foster and enhance cross-border education using new analytical tools of management. The said program has been offered by AIM for the past 16 years.
AIM Adjunct Professor, Dr. Federico M. Macaranas served as the program coordinator and speaker in the said course which involved about 27 AIM graduate students and other participants from 7 educational institutions.
With the goal to strengthen organizations’ strategic position as Southeast Asian countries implement the ASEAN Roadmap thru 2025, participants worked through interactive activities and discussion that would enhance opportunity-seeking.
The session revolved around environmental scanning by using VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguous) analysis; forms of cross-border education; mobility of programs, students, faculty, staff, and institutions; chaos-based SWOT analysis; assessing value propositions and emergence innovation; and redefining strategic positioning to ensure sustainability and growth of educational institutions.
The said program is deemed to be most timely for international cooperation for education systems in the region especially as ASEAN has just celebrated its fifty years founding anniversary.
