With the theme “Peer Caring and Shepherding Leadership: Building Relationships, Transforming Lives, Making a Mark!,” SPUP’s Guidance Center and Student Affairs Office spearheaded the conduct of the 2018 Regional Peer Caring Conference on October 15-16, 2018 at the Global Center. The two-day conference was participated in by professionals, student-leaders, guidance counselors and advocates from twenty-six (26) schools in Region II.

After the welcome address of Sr. Merceditas O. Ang SPC, (University President), a series of plenary sessions was held. Dr. Febe Marl Paat (Guidance Director, Cagayan State University) lectured on “Adolescent in Crisis: Peer Caring and Counseling;” Rev. Fr. Fredel Agatep (Rector, Basilica Minore of the Our Lady of Piat) expounded on the topic, “Shepherding Leadership;” and Dr. Ethel Maureen Pagaddu (Psychiatrist, Cagayan Valley Medical Center) discussed on “Mental Health Literacy and Self Care.”

The sessions were capped by a film viewing on “Till The End of Us.” Dr. Mac Macaraeg (Crisis Counselor) led the participative processing on the movie by giving inputs on the relevance of the modern day adolescents through his talk on “Crisis Intervention and Counseling.”
