Dr. Anunciacion Talosig (Dean of School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences) and Ms. Maricon Barsabal (Faculty, College of Pharmacy) attended the 1st Sari Mutiara Indonesia International Conference on Health on “Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals to Improve Health Outcomes Research and Practice”. Held at the Grand Mercure Hotel, North Sumatra, Indonesia on October 10-11, 2018, the conference brought together 179 practitioners, scientists and researchers from Southeast Asia who shared scientific papers, development programs and country experiences geared relevant to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr Talosig discussed on “Building Local Initiative for Health: An Initiative in Localizing SDG”. Together with her are other key speakers from Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, India and Bangladesh. Ms. Maricon Barsabal presented her study on “Supply Chain Management for Pharmaceutical Products Practiced by the Rural Health Units in Cagayan”. She also served as moderator/co-chair in the panel in one of the con-current sessions.

The conference was a great opportunity for international collaboration and networking. As SPUP co-hosted the conference, many of the participating universities and schools expressed plans to co-host international conferences in the near future.
