Around three hundred Paulinian Student Catechists were given Formation and Orientation Seminar on October 6, 2018 at the conference hall of the Global Center.

Mr. Hollis Sibal, Head of the CF Outreach Services, gave an overview and welcome all the participants. He presented the function of the three components of the Christian Formation – that integrated in each Religious Education subject is the CF Outreach Services that is developmental and tailored as to accompany the subject matter, thus, teaching in the public school is the extension of the course in REL 108 on Social Teachings of the Church and Apostolate.

Sr. Mercedes Bacaoco, SPC, Director for Christian Formation gave a talk on the Integration of the Three Dimensions of Faith (Doctrine, Morals and Worship) and Religious Education Methodology based on National Catechetical Directory for the Philippines (NCDP).

Mr. Socrates Duque presented the Rubrics for Students’ Evaluation and Mr. Noelvic Alconcher explained Field Ethics. Lesson Planning and Lesson Demonstration were also given by some selected Education students. The Eucharistic celebration and the Rite of Commissioning at the Our Lady of Chartres Chapel highlighted the whole-day seminar.

The student catechists are all sent to serve seven public schools under two parishes: St. Rose of Lima Parish (Annafunan, Linao and Atulayan Elementary Schools), and Shrine of Sto. Nino Parish, San Gabriel (San Gabriel, Buntun, Bagay, and Pallua Elementary Schools).

The Fourth Year College students enrolled in Rel 108, in particular, are given an opportunity to teach in the public schools since the course objective is to develop in the Paulinians a sense of belonging and meaningful involvement in the life of the Church and to translate Gospel truths and moral principles into concrete acts of ordinary daily life.

Through the CF Outreach Services, the Paulinians concretely live out their mission: to proclaim Jesus Christ as the Good News to all!
