This year's 2016 Global Alumni Homecoming was anchored on the theme: “Celebrate. Reminisce. Look forward” and for the FIRST time, the annual homecoming was held on the month of December. The affair kicked off with a thanksgiving mass at the Our Lady of Chartres Chapel, presided Fr. Macario Malano Jr., University Chaplain. As the registration continued, the alumni had the chance to reminisce with their fellow alumni the memories while they were still students of SPUP. The excitement was felt among the alumni as they met their batchmates, former classmates and teachers.
The Eucharistic Celebration was followed by a motorcade around Tuguegarao City. Jubilarians cheered as they paraded in the streets and greeted those who witnessed the activity. Simple snacks were served where the participants enjoyed taking their meals as they continued greeting their fellow alumni. Some alumni relieved their memories through a heritage walk around the campus; while, others availed of the amusement rides for the Christmas festivities.
The Fellowship Night highlighted the Homecoming. Mr. Richard Bacud, 2016 Jubilarian Core Group President warmly welcomed the alumni and encouraged them to enjoy the celebration. Mr. Miguel Lim, SPUP Alumni Association President, conducted the traditional roll call and acknowledged the Batches of Alumni present in the activity. Moreover, Mr. Bacud ceremonially turned over the key of responsibility of organizing the 2017 Homecoming to the next Jubilarian Core Group, represented by Mr. Lim.
In her message, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC, University President, expressed her joy of seeing the Alumni and being in their presence as she presented the accomplishments and the development plans of the University. She stressed that SPUP Alumni are the manifestations that “Paulinian Education keeps shining bright!” She also extended her invitation to all alumni to come and visit the University, their home, anytime.
After the President’s Message, Sr. Carmelita Villanueva, SPC, SPUP-SPC Local Superior presented the members of the SPC Sisters’ Community. The rest of the night was spent for batch presentations, dancing, singing and the raffle draw facilitated by Dr. Shamon Abraham.
