Chang Jung Christian University of Tainan, Taiwan sends ten professors to St. Paul University Philippines for a Cross Border Training on November 6-10, 2017. The said training aims to prepare the professors to teach English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) because CJCU intends to establish a new international college in their university. The administration trusts SPUP to improve the English speaking ability of their professors and the cultural exchange could bring them another perspective on EMI.
The professors come from varied disciplines such as: Chuang, Ya-Tang, Associate Professor and Park, Hye Kung, Associate Professor of the Theology Department; Liu, Chun-Lin, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Philosophy, Associate Prefessors Chern, Hsien-Tung and Hsieh, I-ting of the Center of General Education; Professor Huang, Huey-Lan of the Bioscience Technology, Assistant Professor Wu, Ming-Chuan of the Information Management, Assistant Professor Wu,Yu-Sheng of the Mass Communication Department, Assistant Professor Liao, Lu-Wen of the Innovative Application and Management, and Assistant Professor Chen, Guan-Hong of the Business Administration Department. They are accompanied by the staff of the Office of International Affairs, Hong, Huei-Yun.
They were trained by Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales, the Director of International Relations and ETEEAP, Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay, the Director of Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies and Dr. Concepcion Doyugan, Head, Intercultural Institute for Languages.
At the beginning, few of the participants had a difficulty in expressing themselves in English; however, with the training, many of them could not believe that they had used English as a means of communication for the whole week and believed that they definitely improved their usage. In the end, they said that they would like that the training would be for two weeks so that they could benefit some more with the constant practice.
