September 12 – 15, 2017, ten Local Chief Executives together with their Municipal Health Officers from the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya converged at the Crown Pavilion, Tuguegarao City for Cycle 2 of the Municipal Leadership and Governance Program Module 1, Version 2 training. This endeavor was in collaboration with the Department of Health Regional Office 2, through Dr. Valeriano Jesus V. Lopez (Regional Director), who specifically chose the SPUP to be its academic partner.
Module 1, entitled “Grounding and Visioning” aimed to guide the Mayors and their Municipal Health Officers to an awareness and ownership of the health inequities in their respective municipalities, enable them to co-own these inequities with their different stakeholders, so that they can co-create their preferred health reality. The participants underwent various activities that challenged them to look into their leadership journey and leadership capital, and effective ways of solving health inequities thru systems thinking and dialogue.
Dr. Anunciacion Talosig and Miss Eileen Molina of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (SNAHS); and, Mrs. Rita Daliwag and Mr. Sergio Imperio of the School of Arts, Sciences and Teacher Education (SASTE) composed the MLGP Trainors’ Team. They were ably supported by the HLGP Staff of the Department of Health, Dr. Meredith Labarda from UP Manila College of Public Health and Mr. Philip Jerome Flores of the Zuellig Family Foundation.
Bridging Leadership, which the MLGP is all about, is a program composed of three modules with a six-month practicum in between the modules, and which will end with a colloquium and graduation.
