May 09, 2017 – In commemoration of the University’s 110th Founding Anniversary, the SPUP Family held for the first time a procession as part of the celebration. From the St. Peter’s Metropolitan Cathedral to SPUP compound, SPC Sisters, Administrators, Faculty Members, Staff, Personnel, Students and Alumni, trod the streets of Tuguegarao City while praying the Holy Rosary.

Accompanying the images of Saint Paul, Our Lady of Chartres and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the SPUP family through the said activity celebrated both their historical and religious heritage. Historically, the procession was conducted in commemoration of SPUP’s transfer in 1934 from the Cathedral compound to its present grounds. While for its religious meaning, the procession symbolized SPUP as part of the pilgrim Church on earth and the affirmation that members of the SPUP family shares in the University’s pilgrimage of faith.

As the procession began with a Send-off Liturgy at the Cathedral Patio, the hour-long procession culminated with a Creative Liturgy which included candle offering to Saint Paul, by the SPC Sisters; and, flower offering to the Our Lady of Chartres, by students, faculty members and staff.

The procession served as expression of the Paulinian community of its unending devotion to God, which enables the institution to continue its legacy of education, service and faith. It was also a manifestation of gratitude for a century and a decade of blessings and prosperity.
