SPUP's 12th Mid-Year Commencement Exercises were held on January 14, 2017. With the theme: SPUP: GEARING TOWARDS INTERNATIONALIZATION, the graduation ceremonies celebrated the academic success of the graduates of January 2017.
At the Our Lady of Chartres Chapel, Archbishop Sergio Utleg, DD presided the Baccalaureate Mass. It was concelebrated by Fr. Noel Sibbaluca, Fr. Macario Malano Jr. and Fr. Yakobus Sanbiko, SVD. The Eucharistic Celebration incorporated the solemn Rite of Mission Sending. With their Paulinian education, the graduates are sent to be communicators of faith, hope and love. Moreover, the graduates prayed for their Missionary Promises as the congregation imparted their blessings on them.
At the University Gymnasium, the Graduation Ceremonies ensued. This was highlighted by the Commencement Address of the Guest of Honor, Dr. Alex Brillantes, Jr., Commissioner at the Commission on Higher Education. He expounded the theme by challenging the graduates to continuously develop and shift paradigms within the context of glocalization and coopetition; and to advance adaptive responses through lifelong learning. He also emphasized SPUP's strategic edge as an internationally accredited institution, autonomous institution and a participating institution of the ASEAN International Mobility for Students. He likewise lauded SPUP by citing the University's pioneering initiatives on students' international exposure and students' achievements.
In the Graduation Rites, Dr. Charito Guillermo (Doctor in Business Management) led the Graduates' Prayer. Ms. Piny Elleine Cesar (BS Nursing, Cum Laude) read the address of petition followed by the presention of the graduates by Dr. Agripina Maribbay (VP Academics). Subsequently, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) conferred on the graduates the titles and degrees of their respective courses and programs. Ms. Karla Ida Pamittan (BS Nursing, Cum Laude) expressed the gratitude of the graduates through her valedictory address. Mr. Christopher Enriquez, (Master in Business Administration) a Loyalty Awardee, led the graduates to their Pledge of Loyalty, while, Mrs. Marietta Reyes, (Treasurer, SPUPAA) inducted them to the Alumni Association.
A total of 399 students (4 Doctorate, 265 Masters and 130 Bachelors degree) marched in this year's Mid-Year Commencement Exercises.
